CVI Seminar Series
Inaugurated in September 2006, the institute monthly Institute Seminar Series hosts six to eight visiting professors annually, who are world leaders in basic science, clinical and translational research related to heart and vessel disease.
Institute members recommend speakers for this interdisciplinary series. Many are clinician-scientists whose work is translational in nature, who present topics related to clinical cardiovascular disease, pathophysiological mechanisms, and emerging therapies.
Please see the Institute Seminars Series webpage for the up-to-date seminar schedule.
Lectureship Series in Cell Therapy and Developmental Biology
In 2008 the Stanford Cardiovascular Institute began a new Visiting Professor Lectureship Series on Cell Therapy & Developmental Biology. The Stanford CVI invites prominent investigators in these areas to stimulate exchange of ideas and foster collaboration among the Institute's myriad of laboratories.
Back to top »CV Molecular and Cellular Imaging Interest Group
A core of faculty investigators and reseachers form a group called the Cardiovascular Molecular and Cellular Interest Group.
Stanford community members who are interested in cardiovascular related molecular and cellular imaging technology and innovation are invited to join the mailing list to receive notification about meetings and events.

CVI Cardiomyopathy Seminar Series
In 2006, the Stanford Cardiovascular Institute announced an interdisciplinary seminar series on Tuesdays from 12-1pm in the Falk Cardiovascular Research Building library (2nd floor).
The format is informal presentation of bench to bedside science. Presenters give a brief background, then present research "in progress" for a general audience. The aim is not a packaged story “grand round” style, but a discursive presentation which represents the reality of doing science: some experiments work, some don’t. We ask speakers to talk for less than 30 minutes to allow plenty of time for questions and discussion. Although some presentations will be basic science and some will be clinical science, we strongly encourage all to come along, ask questions and learn. We hope the forum continues to provide speakers and labs with ideas for the future direction of their work.
We kick off each week with a “5 minute” journal club – one person will go against the clock armed with only a white board and marker to explain the most interesting new paper of the week in under 5 minutes.
We are delighted with the enthusiastic response to this concept of bringing together Stanford researchers from diverse divisions and departments who share a common interest in myocardial biology. Our program reflects this enthusiasm with speakers from pediatric and adult CV Medicine, CT surgery, Molecular Pharmacology, Immunology, and Pulmonary/Critical care in the first three months alone.
Please join us Tuesday lunchtimes and encourage all your students, technicians, post-docs, and fellows to attend as well.
Euan Ashley, MD, PhD, Assistant Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine
Michael Fowler, MD, Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine
Daniel Bernstein, MD, Professor of Pediatric Cardiology
