  • Peipei Ping, PhD, UCLA seminar 5/2: "Exploring the cardiac mitochondrial proteome: 1000+ proteins and 12+ function clusters"
  • Leslie Leinwand, PhD, University of Colorado seminar 5/7: "Mice and Pythons: Lessons to be learned about regulating cardiac growth"
  • Steven Houser, MD, Temple University 5/16: "Calcium-mediated cardiac injury and repair"
  • 5 CVP Academy students participate in the annual medical Student research and population health symposium 5/16, 11:00-2:00 PM, Fairchild Auditorium Lobby

  • Announced 28-member Steering Committee and set first meeting for June 13 Stanford Cardiovascular Institute co-hosted with Chemical and Systems Biology Department three lectures as part of an April-May 8-lecture series on "Drug Discovery for Heart Failure"

  • SCVI Seminar speaker 9/21-22: Noel Bairey Merz, MD, Cedars-Sinai, UCLA, both Medicine and Cardiovascular Grand Rounds: Women and Heart Disease: Lessons from the NHLBI-sponsored WISE Study, and Anatomy versus Physiology: Gender Differences in Atherosclerosis
  • Dr. Bairey-Merz Community lecture 9/21: Detecting Heart Disease in Women: Do the signs and symptoms of heart disease differ in women, compared to men: how can we improve detection of heart disease in women?

  • SCVI Seminar speaker 1/13: Nanette Wenger, MD, Emory University, “Coronary Heart Disease in Women 2006.” 3:00 PM, Clark Auditorium
  • First community event 1/13 promoting women’s cardiovascular health Nanette Wenger, MD “Coronary Prevention: A Partnership Between Women and Their Doctors”
  • Cardiomyopathy Working Group established a first-of-it-kind, IRB-approved tissue bank of adult and pediatric heart failure patients, including database and IT structure, hired a dedicated technician to amass high quality blood and tissue samples for genetic research and analysis
  • Began developing a specialized program: Women's Heart Health at Stanford
